Holiday Sweet & Spicy Pecans
Add a bit of holiday zest to your next gathering with this easy to prepare sweet & spicy snack recipe.
Plain pecan halves
not salted or toasted
Fresh orange zest
Coarse Sea Salt
Medium hot (or to your liking)
Preheat oven to 225 degrees
Line a baking sheet or jelly roll pan with parchment paper
In large bowl, combine pecans, orange juice & egg white. Stir until all pecans are coated. Set aside.
In a smaller bowl, combine orange zest, sugar, salt, chili powder, cayenne pepper & black pepper. Stir until mixed thoroughly.
Add contents of smaller bowl (zest and spice mixture) to contents of larger bowl (pecans, juice & egg whites). Stir until evenly coated.
Spread in an even layer onto parchment prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Pecans should like dry when done.
Remove from oven. Cool completely before serving.
Store pecans in an airtight container.
