The color of spring is
showing itself all
through my northern garden.
This morning the yellow iris were glowing…
and the salmon pink of the columbine
are now at their best.
The weigela are just starting to open.
This is one of its first blooms of the season,
the purplish-pink unique in my garden
of spicy orange and reds
The greens and purples
of the newly leafed out shrubs
are fresh and inviting.
The bright rainbow of pansies refuse to be
outdone by the largeness of the dogwood.
The edible and fragrant gardens are still so tiny
that I have to bend down to catch a glimpse of what’s growing,
but their reds, purples and greens are no less stunning
than the larger blooms of the season.
After the hurry and scurry of the past holiday weekend,
the early morning garden is a colorful & peaceful refuge….
For anyone willing to perch a minute and take it all in.
