It’s a good day when you wake up thinking, “All I need to do today is relax and enjoy the wineries.” It’s an even better day if you’re in Napa Valley and smart enough to book a tour through a vivaciously fun company like Platypus Tours. In case you’re just tuning in, I wrote earlier about my four-day California excursion, Spring Cruising Through California. Each day held its own unique experience. Wine touring day was spent sipping handcrafted wine from artisan vintners and experiencing a community-within-a-community of progressive winemakers dedicated to both tradition and innovation.
Waking Up Wine Country
The day dawned a bit overcast. A misty-rain was predicted. It took a little more coffee than usual to get me going. But, coffee is on the list of The Old World Inn, Hotel Napa Valley’s specialties so I wasn’t suffering too much. All of Napa Valley was waking up and the pace was just what I needed. A bit slower. Relaxed. Thoughtful. Breezy. My day began with breakfast in the wine cellar of our hotel, we then explored four unique wineries, and traversed to Yountville for dinner. Before I knew it, Sunday dawned and I was on the road again departing Napa Valley. It was a short trip, but worth it.
Here’s a brief photo tour of the highlights. (Links to the each of the wineries I visited are at the end of the post.)
Happily, the first signs of spring are now showing up in the Midwest. Today, we’re enjoying a gentle spring rain. The pansies I planted this weekend are soaking it up, loving every minute of it. More on that soon.
